Barfi  Desserts Recipe from Indian subcontinent


Barfi is a dense milk based sweet from the Indian subcontinent. It is the original of India. Here is some recipe of Bangladesh cuisine.

1. Cashew nut Barfi

Materials :

Cashew nut – one and a half cup

Milk (dense)- one and a half cups

Sugar – 250 grams or taste

Rose water or keowara essence – 1 teaspoon

3-4 Cardamom

Ghee – half cup


(1) Cashew Nut soak in water for one hour and then finely blend.

(2) Now heat ghee in a pan and  add Cashew nut paste, sugar and milk.

(3) Give the rose water. Slowly stir until it gets thickened.

Then remove from heat.

(4)  Now spread the ghee on a tray and pour the halowa paste.

(5) Let the halowa cool down.

(6) If  it is cold, cut into ice form and serve it with a silver flask or a nut.

2. Chana Borfi


Chana – 2 cups

Cardamom powder – half a teaspoon

Ghee – half cup

Powder milk – 1 cup

Sugar-like taste

Semolina – 3 table spoons

Pistachios and cashew nut chopped – 2 table spoons

Raisins – 1 table spoon

Rose water 1 teaspoon


First makes chana from 1 litter milk.

Then mix all the ingredients together in a nonstick pan and mix well.

Put the pan in the stove and keep stirring continuously.

When the mixture becomes thick , then remove from heat.

Spread the ghee on a pan and put the halowa. Then spread the powder milk and nut chopped and equalize it with spoon.

If it will be  cold, cut into a choice of shapes, make the top of the nuts, serve it.

3. Semolina Barfi

1 cup of semolina
2 tablespoons of ghee
Sugar 1/2 cup
Salt to taste
1 Cardamom
Nuts as your like
A little amount of water


First semolina will be fried lightly brown. Give them all the ingredients except nuts. Add some water. Now stirring. When it becomes thick then remove from heat.

Now sprinkle the ghee and  nut in the tray with a hand and put the mixture and equalize with spoon or hand.

Keep it in the fridge. Then cut it your choice.

4. Jaffraroni Barfi


Semolina 1 cup

Milk 1 litter ( dense)

1 cup of sugar

Saffron  a pinch

2 White cardamom

2  Cinnamon


In the first , take  milk in a pan and add semolina,cardamom and cinnamon. Then it heat on stove.
After that when it starting to boil then give  saffron. Once the mixure becomes soft,then saffron  will be mixed well. Do not give more color, then the smell of color will come out.
Now stirring continuously. At this time, choose the pieces of cinnamon and cardamom and take out from this.

When it will be completely dry and thick then remove from heat.
Now spread the ghee on a tray and spread the Borfi mixture and equalize with spoon or hand. Now cut it ice shape.

5. Bread Barfi



Fresh bread 10 pcs
1 cup of coconut
Sugar is like your taste
2 tablespoons of chestnut nut powder (optional)
A pinch of cardamom powders
A few drops of rose water
Like any flavored jam
2 eggs

Milk 1/2 cup(dense)
Ghee is needed


Coconut  and sugar mix in a pan and heat on stove. Sugar give  a little bit, because coconut will not sweeten  much. You can give 2 tablespoons of Sugar.

Now stirring it. When it becomes adhesive then give  the nuts and cardamom powder and remove from heat. After that add some drops of rose water.

Take out the brown part around the breads. Then press down with a roller.  The pieces of bread will become thin.
Now mix jam on the bread. It will not be thicker, it will be thin.
Now spread the coconut over the bread.If you want to spread it, you can do it.
When coconut rolls down, press the bread down, but do not get frustrated when you break into rolling. Broken spaces can be added by adding extra bread.
Now mix eggs, milk and little sugar and beaten together.

Heat ghee in apan.
When the ghee is hot, squeeze the rolls into the egg mixture and fry it. Take all the sides carefully. When fried, put the plate on top.
Let the rolls to be cold. After that slice the ice with the knife.

6. Carrots Barfi


Grated carrots – 2 cups
Condansed Milk – 1 cans ( sweets as your like)
Powder milk – 1/2 cups
Liquid milk – 2 cups

Cardamom powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Ghee 1 tabspoon
* You can use any mold for design

At first 1 tabspoon ghee heat in a pan and add carrots. Then fry it for  7-8 minutes.

Then add 2 cups of liquid milk and cook for 15 to 20 minutes. When the milk becomes dry and carrots will be soft, then add condensed milk, powder milk, and cardamom powder. Mix well and cook for about 8-10 minutes on medium flame. When it will be thick and adhesive then remove from heat and keep for cold.

Now makes shape as your choice.

7. Chocolate Barfi


Chana – 1 cup
Greated papaya – 1/2 cups
Condensed Milk – 3/4 cups ( or your choice)
Powder milk – 1/2 cups
Coconut chopped – 1/2 cups
Ghee 1 tabspoon
Cocoa powder – 1tabpoon
Nnutella / nosila – 2 tabspoon
Cardamom powder – 1/4 teaspoon


At first, the papaya chopped will be boiled and keep for water fall. the water by boiling 6/7 minutes.

Now heat ghee in a pan and then roast the papaya for 5-6 minutes. Add condensed milk, coconut, nutella, cocoa powder and milk powder, mix well and cook for 8-10 minutes on medium flame. When it will be thick and dry then add cardamom powder and mix well. Now remove from heat and makes shape as your choice or ice shape.

8. Chana Marvel Barfi

Grated carrots – 1 cup
Condensed milk -1 can

Powder milk – 1 cup
Cardamom powder – 1/4 teaspoon
Ghee 1 tabspoon

Need for the chana

Chana – 2 cups

Cardamom powder 1/4 teaspoon
Green Food colour – 1 pinch


First, the grated carrots will be boiled in hot water and then drain the water.

Now heat ghee in a pan and add carrots. Add condensed milk and mix well. Now add cardamom powder and powder milkand cooke for 2-3 minutes and let cool it. This does not have to be too thick.

Now take a pan and keep chana, condensed milk and cardamom powder and beaten well.Now spread a wax paper in a square size panand put the halowa mixture. Makes layer on carrots and chana. Now mixed green food colour on top .

Now bake 20 to 25 minutes in 350 ° pre-heated oven, or bake according to its oven temperature. Then refrigerate for 2/3 hours and cool down.

Now serve it.

9. Semai / Vermicelli Barfi


Vermicelli-1 packet
Condensed Milk – 3/4 Tin
Ghee  3-4 table spoons
Cardamom – 2
Bay leaf – 1
But chopped ( as your choice)

Milk – 250 g (dense)


Heat the ghee in a pan on  low heat. Add vermicelli and fry it. When it
fried, then add condensed milk and milk.  Keep stirring well.
When it will be lightly thick then remove from heat.

Now spread the ghee in a tray and put the vermicelli.

Now equalize with spoon and cut it ice shape.
